British Fighter Wins World Savate Title


British Fighter Wins World Title in Savate, French Boxing.

6th November 2014, London

In Rome on Saturday night, 1st Nov, James Southwood of London became the first British World Champion in Boxe-Francaise Savate, a kickboxing sport from France.

World Savate Assaut Championships 2014

The World Championships in Savate Assaut 2014 were held In Rome between 30th October and 1st November.

Team GB sent 3 men and 4 women. GBSF President James Southwood became the first ever British World Champion. James Antill won his second World Silver medal. Full report soon.

GBSF Championships 2014

The British Savate Assaut Championships were held on 7th June in Broadwater School, Farncombe, Godalming, Surrey.

The GBSF was thrilled to welcome teams from Finland, Holland and Ireland as well as local fighters. 48 competitors entered in total.

The championships consisted of 52 fights, including novice matches, international matches and championship bouts. Congratulations to all of the fighters who worked very hard to put on a great show!

The 2014 Champions are:

Male 65-70kg
Champion: Nigel Tropman
Vice-Champion: Simon Blackwell

17/18th May 2014: Cambridge Instructors Training Weekend

On the 17th and 18th of May Savate Professors Julie Gabriel and Ollie Batts hosted an Instructors training weekend in Cambridge.

GBSF members old and new attended from the all over the country including Birmingham and north east Scotland, some 500 miles away.

After a good warm up, day one saw DTN Laura Gilbert, Treasurer Jasbir Nagi, and the hosts run through Blue, Green and White syllabi prior to grading with Initiateurs and attending members.
